Nearly 500 Run the Blue

With surprisingly nice weather and great running conditions, nearly 500 people ran or walked in support of our 4th Annual YPD BLUE 5K Run for a Reason yesterday in beautiful oceanfront South Yarmouth.  Several thousand dollars were raised for this years 5 different race beneficiaries and everyone involved had a wonderful, healthy, and memorable time.

 2011 Race Beneficiaries

Family of Fallen Woburn Police Officer John Maguire

Deputy Chief Xiarhos,

On behalf of the Maguire family and all of Jack Maguire’s brother and sister officers here at the Woburn Police Department please accept our deepest gratitude for the generous donation that was made on behalf of the Yarmouth Police Department.  Because of the overwhelming support and generosity that we have received since 12/26/2010, we have been able to establish a scholarship fund in memory of Officer Jack Maguire.  To date the scholarship fund is nearing the $70,000 mark.  It is an awesome feeling knowing that Jack’s memory and legacy will live on thru the scholarship fund.

On June 6, 2011 we held the first annual Officer Maguire Memorial Scholarship Fund “In Valor There is Hope” event at the Sea Dog Brew Pub in Woburn.  This event also coincided with the first annual Jack Maguire Memorial softball tournament, which was held here in Woburn and sponsored by the Greater Boston Softball League.  Both events were such a huge success that plans are already in the making to make the events annual.

Again, thank you and all of your officers from all of us here at Woburn PD.
